Inviting Clients to Review
Your clients do not need a WordPress account to leave feedback. NotedWP lets you generate share links that give guests access to the review overlay on your site.
Generating a Share Link
- Go to Noted > Settings in your WordPress admin.
- Click Generate Share Link.
Copy the generated URL and send it to your client via email, chat, or any other channel.
The Guest Registration Modal
When a guest opens the share link, they see a registration modal before they can start reviewing.
- Name is required. This is how the guest appears in comment threads.
- Email is optional. If provided, it is stored for reference but not used for login.
After registering, the guest enters the review overlay and can begin leaving feedback.
What Guests Can Do
Guests have access to most feedback tools:
- Place pins on the page
- Leave comments and reply to threads
- Draw annotations (Pro)
- Suggest text edits (Pro)
Guests cannot resolve pins, bulk resolve, or export feedback. Those actions are reserved for logged-in WordPress users with review permissions.
Guest Sessions
Guest sessions are stored in the browser’s localStorage. This means a guest can close the tab and return later without re-registering, as long as they use the same browser. Clearing browser data will require a new registration.
Password Protection (Pro)
On Pro ($79/yr) and Agency ($199/yr) plans, you can add a password to your share link. Guests must enter the correct password before the registration modal appears. This adds a layer of security for sensitive reviews.
Expiry Dates (Pro)
Pro and Agency plans also support expiry dates on share links. Set a date, and the link stops working after that day. This is useful for time-limited review rounds.
Guest Limits
- Free plan. Up to 3 guests.
- Pro ($79/yr) and Agency ($199/yr). Unlimited guests.
Revoking Share Links
To revoke access, go to Noted > Settings and delete the share link. All guests who had the link will lose access immediately. You can generate a new link at any time if needed.
