Escape Key Behaviors

The Esc key adapts to context:

  • While drawing an annotation. Cancels the current drawing without saving.
  • With a modal open. Closes the modal.
  • With a pin selected. Deselects the pin and closes its popover.

If nothing is active, pressing Esc has no effect.

When Shortcuts Are Disabled

Shortcuts are automatically disabled when you are typing in an input field, textarea, or contenteditable element. This prevents accidental tool switches while writing feedback or replies.

Once you click outside the input field or submit your text, shortcuts become active again.

Free vs. Pro Shortcuts

On the Free plan, you have access to the core tool shortcuts: C (pin), V (cursor), E (element selector), and Esc (cancel/close). All navigation and panel shortcuts require a Pro ($79/yr) or Agency ($199/yr) plan.
